They found The Curradine Barns on the Internet. "It simply had a good feel to it - we just knew it was right." There was also the benefit of having the whole day in one place and having the venue all to themselves. "The catering package was great - and on the day the caterers were superb!"
Christina had one Maid of Honour, her sister Sharon. Sharon wore a moss green Dessy dress and shoes dyed moss green by Rainbow to match. There were three flower girls; their daughter Lani and her two cousins Cora and Mia, all aged 3! They wore Venus Little Maidens dresses in Romantica Cream.
Alexander and his Best man Bob, wore the same outfits; a fawn colour suit with a fine cream pinstripe and their waistcoats were bought from The Cravat company. The ties were specially sourced from Italy by The Tie Box to match the Maid of Honour's dress. The pageboy, their Nephew Cameron, also aged 3 wore a simple black suit with a matching green tie from The Tie Box.
Christina's dress was a Maggie Sottero called Tabrette Lynnette in vienna cream. It was strapless with fitted A-line corset back and the bodice was decorated with lace motifs accented with a French taffeta empire band and ribbon. She wore plain ivory Rainbow shoes, an alice band with rose cream pearls and crytals and a two-strand rose cream bracelet with matching necklace made by Crystabelle Jewellery.
Alexander's Mum who is a florist made the flowers. Christina's bouquet consisted of vintage lilac roses, Nigella seed heads, lilac lemonium, eucalyptus, senecio foliage and austrian crystals. The buttonholes were a single lilac rose with ivy leaves.
They felt that The Curradine Barns didn't need much decoration and serves a perfect backdrop for a wedding. They had simple organza sashes on the back of some of the chairs and just let the floristry do the work. The table centrepieces consisted of a vase of flowers in the centre, frosted glass votives & tea lights surrounding. The top table also had two candleabras and organza bows on the chairs. Each table was named after a leading actor, the head table being Pacino.
The bride and groom made their own favours keeping with the colour scheme. The ladies received a Wedding Day scented Yankee candle gift boxed with a nametag. The men received Lilac Island Punch Jelly Belly Beans in a tin labelled with a nametag. The children received Just Jelly Cat keyrings or small toys which fitted perfectly into favour boxes.
Christine and Alex bought their cake from Waitrose. It was a three-tier Sugar Petals ivory rich fruit cake. "I would highly recommend keeping the cake simple, the cake we chose was great on price. It looked superb and was delicious!"
Christina says the Registrars were very good at making us feel relaxed before and during the ceremony. "We have to say it was the most enjoyable part of the day. The flower girls walked down the aisle with baskets of lilac rose petals, followed by my Maid of Honour then my Father and myself. The overall highlight of the day was seeing all our friends and family in one place." When asked if she had any tips for future brides, Georgina said; "I used the Internet vigorously and would highly recommend it to get the best prices."
